Man Adopts Girlfriend in DUI Case

February 1, 2012

In a bizzare case from Palm Beach County, Florida, a man who is facing DWI charges and a civil trial for vehicular manslaughter in a case of DUI that resulted in the death of a 23 year old man, has adopted his longtime girlfriend in an effort to shield some of his assets from the civil suit.  John Goodman has adopted Heather Laruso Hutchins, whom he has been dating since 2009, so that she will have immediate access to monies previously placed in a trust for Goodman’s minor children, and thus presumably provide Goodman with access to the assets as well.

Man Held in Solitary Confinement 2 Years After DWI Gets $22M

January 26, 2012

A man who spent two years in solitary confinement after getting arrested for DWI was awarded $22 million for suffering inhumane treatment in New Mexico’s Dona Ana County Jail.  http://www.nbcdfw.com/news/weird/Man-Held-in-Solitary-Confinement-2-Years-After-DWI-Gets-22M-138053288.html

This is very rare; someone charged with DUI in New Jersey would very rarely be able to sue for damages except in extremely unusual circumstances as occurred in this case.  The Defendant had a very good DUI Lawyer or negligence attorney.

Arrested for DUI – Oral Roberts son

January 25, 2012

The son of evangelist Oral Roberts was arrested Tuesday evening for suspected DUI, after being stopped by Highway Patrol while doing 93 mph in his Mercedes Benz.  The Police claim they detected a strong odor of alcohol about Robert’s body and person (surprise!).  Police further claim that he failed a field sobriety test as well as a breathalyzer.  Just as people seeking a New Jersey DUI Lawyer will do, Roberts I am sure will seek a DUI lawyer to defend his rights.
